The Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Biochemistry supervises courses in Anatomy, histology and Physiology, as introductory courses. The Department later offers courses in Pharmacology, Clinical pharmacology, toxicology, biological standardization of drugs, biochemistry, and laboratory defined data bases. The study programs aim to establish the basis needed to know every aspect in drug action starting by studying the anatomical systems of the human body, followed by the physiology of all the body organs. Any abnormal physiologies resulting from pathological conditions are also studied. The students also study the biochemical reactions in the body, the pharmacological effects of drugs, as well as indications, side effects, and toxicity.
The goal is not only to prepare the undergraduate students for their future success in life through a range of up-to-date instruction in Pharmacology, Toxicology and Biochemistry, but also to educate them in modern scientific methodology, enabling them to contribute positively and creatively to the profession of Pharmacy.
