Faculty Overview
Pharmacy is the profession devoted to the art and science of preparing suitable materials from natural and synthetic sources for distribution and use in the treatment and prevention of diseases. The study involves the knowledge, identification, selection, effects, preservation, compounding, analysis, and standardization of medicines. The pharmacist is responsible for the safe distribution and use of drugs, whether they have been prescribed by a physician, a dentist, or veterinary doctor or prepared and sold directly and legally to the consumer.  

Educational Opportunities

The Faculty of Pharmacy offers a complete and comprehensive program covering all aspects of medicines. It educates and trains pharmacists in the following areas: 
  • Drug industry (dosage forms, raw materials, packaging materials)
  • Analysis and quality control of drug manufacturing, testing and distribution
  • Hospital and clinical pharmacy
  • Drug storage, regulatory control, expiration dates, and disposal methods
  • Drug information centers
  • Military pharmacy
  • Drug sales, marketing, and promotion
  • Drug research
  • Drug manufacturing and testing tools and technology
The faculty has designed innovative, patient focused, undergraduate programs that address the needs of healthcare professionals. While being aware of the constantly changing role of pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, the faculty has developed and refreshed a portfolio of undergraduate courses, including: microbiology, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, pharmacognosy and medicinal plants, pharmacology and toxicology, in addition to pharmacy practice and clinical pharmacy.

Research is of high priority to the Faculty and takes place alongside teaching under the guidance of our Director of Research. The Faculty’s investment in facilities and equipment along with the establishment of the Future University Pharmaceutical Factory attest to its long-term commitment to research. The Faculty will continue to build a strong interdisciplinary approach to research that enhances its reputation. 

Future University in Egypt's Educational Philosophy

All Faculties, including Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Industries, embrace the university’s mission to “promote an atmosphere that values intellectual curiosity, the pursuit of knowledge, and academic freedom and integrity.” To achieve this mission, certain pillars of an FUE education are embedded in the curriculum of all Faculties. These competencies or “pillars of an FUE education” include the following: 
  • Critical Thinking: objective analysis and evaluation of information and concepts from multiple perspectives
  • Knowledge Integration: application and synthesis of information and concepts from diverse disciplines
  • Effective Communication: strong facility in oral and written communication; use of visual resources and technology for communication
  • Social Responsibility: respectful and civil treatment of others; active participation in civil and democratic institutions; protection of the environment and intelligent use of natural resources
Together with information literacy, the pillars prepare our graduates to be productive members of society who value lifelong learning. 

Program Requirements

To receive a Bachelor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (PharmD Clinical Pharmacy), students must successfully complete 181 credit hours over five years in addition to one year training (Internship year). The hours include the University's compulsory and elective courses and courses in the following six departments:
  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry
  • Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology
  • Pharmacology, Toxicology and Biochemistry
  • Pharmacognosy and Medicinal Plants
  • Microbiology and Immunology
  • Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy
