Future University in Egypt Supports National Awareness Initiatives The Faculty of Pharmacy at Future University in Egypt proudly participated in the national "متصدقش" (Don't Believe It) competition, organized by the Supreme Council of Universities in cooperation with the Student Activities Sector and the Leadership Preparation Institute. The initiative brings together students from universities across Egypt to raise awareness about the dangers of misinformation and encourage responsible verification of information sources. The competition reflects a national commitment to strengthening digital literacy, critical thinking, and informed decision-making among university students, particularly in areas that directly impact public health and community well being. Raising Awareness Through Scientific Evidence As part of the competition, students were challenged to produce a high-quality awareness video, lasting between one and three minutes, addressing a common rumor or misconception and correcting it using reliable scientific evidence. The Faculty of Pharmacy team linked their awareness message to the Tayyibat System, using it as a practical example to demonstrate the importance of distinguishing between evidence-based nutritional guidance and misleading health claims circulating on social media. The video emphasized that health-related decisions should always be based on credible scientific evidence rather than unverified online content. Addressing Common Nutrition and Health Misconceptions The awareness video highlighted several widespread misconceptions related to nutrition and health, encouraging viewers to critically evaluate information before accepting or sharing it. Among the key messages presented were: • Restrictive diets followed without professional medical supervision may lead to vitamin and mineral deficiencies, weakened immunity, fatigue, and anemia. • Eliminating certain fruits and vegetables without scientific justification can reduce dietary fiber intake, contributing to digestive disorders and other gastrointestinal health problems. • Poor dietary practices and inadequate hydration may increase the risk of dehydration and kidney-related complications. • Protein rich foods such as chicken, eggs, dairy products, and cheese remain essential components of a balanced diet and should not be eliminated based on unsupported claims. • Patients with diabetes should never discontinue insulin or prescribed medications based on misinformation. • Individuals living with chronic diseases, autoimmune disorders, or cancer should always follow medical advice and continue their prescribed treatment plans. • Rapid weight loss is not necessarily an indicator of better health, as it may result from the loss of fluids or muscle mass rather than healthy fat reduction. • Diets that encourage unlimited consumption of sugary foods, sweets, and processed beverages can negatively affect overall health and increase the risk of long-term complications. The video concluded with a powerful message encouraging students and the wider community to rely on scientific evidence rather than misleading claims when making health related decisions. Encouraging Creativity and Digital Communication Skills In addition to promoting awareness, the competition encouraged students to develop creative communication skills by producing professional quality educational content. Submitted videos were evaluated according to several criteria, including directing, voice performance, lighting, filming quality, visual presentation, sound design, adherence to the maximum three-minute duration, and the effective use of modern technologies, including artificial intelligence where appropriate. Recognizing the Faculty of Pharmacy Team Future University in Egypt proudly recognizes the students who represented the Faculty of Pharmacy in this national competition: • Lina Abdelhamid Mostafa, Fourth Year Clinical Pharmacy Student • Nadine Ayman Mahmoud, Fourth Year Clinical Pharmacy Student The project was supervised by: • Dr. Shymaa Hatem Abdelazeem, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, Future University in Egypt The awareness video was also supported by Dr. Roghda Allah, Lecturer, Faculty of Pharmacy, Future University in Egypt. Future University in Egypt's Commitment to Community Awareness Through initiatives such as the "متصدقش" competition, Future University in Egypt continues to empower its students to become responsible healthcare professionals and informed community leaders. By combining scientific knowledge with effective public communication, the Faculty of Pharmacy reinforces the University's mission to promote evidence-based healthcare, combat misinformation, and contribute to building a healthier and more informed society.
